Dress your littles in style with these DIY baby onesies! Your Cricut makes these baby favorites easy to put together—and they are perfect for baby showers and newborn gifts!
There’s something about the month of May that brings a wave of new babies. My boys were born in May, as was one of my nephews and a whole host of my boys’ friends. We also have quite a few pregnant friends, which means one thing—baby showers! Today I’m sharing one of my favorite gifts to make for baby showers and newborn gifts—baby onesies! Store bought ones are cute, yes, but take them up a notch with a fun Cricut design using iron on!
I even have a round up of DIY Baby Shower Ideas with the Cricut!
Supplies to Make DIY Onesies
There aren’t many supplies you need to make DIY baby onesies with your Cricut, which make them the perfect last-minute baby shower gift. Generally, you just need:
- A onesie or bodysuit (see below)
- Cricut Explore or Maker
- Iron-on vinyl
- Cricut EasyPress, heat press, or iron
And there’s an even easier option, if you’re really pressed for time. Cricut now makes Iron-On Designs, which are pre-cut. All you have to do is iron them on! I talked about them here, and there are more options below!
Where to Buy Blank Onesies
You can buy blank bodysuits and onesies in lots of places. My favorites are Carter’s (for skinnier babies) and Gerber (for chunkier babies). I find that Carter’s has a larger selection of plain colors, which are perfect for iron-on. Gerber has larger packs, which is awesome, too. Both brands wear well. I usually pick up packs at Target while I’m there, but you can also find them on Amazon and have them sent straight to your house for free with Amazon Prime!
- Target:Gerber white
- Target:Carter’s white
- Target: Carter’s blues and grays
- Target: Gerber pinks and greens
- Amazon: Gerber gray
- Amazon: Carter’s gray
- Amazon: Carter’s long-sleeve girls’ pack
- Amazon: Carter’s short-sleeve boys’ pack
I’ve also heard really good things about Primary’s bodysuits (and the rest of their non-branded kids’ clothing!), though they are a little more expensive. The color range is amazing, though—23 different colors to choose from.

Cute post! Just an FYI – Once Upon a Child is an awesome place to get bodysuits! Usually just $1.50/each, or some stores do a daily 10 for $10 on bodysuits! May be super helpful for some of your readers 😊
